BokoHaram Kills 3-Year Old Child In Overnight Suicide Bombing In Cameroon, Many Injured

President Paul Biya of Cameroon and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo of Nigeria

A Boko Haram suicide bombing in Cameroon on Thursday night killed a 3-year old child and injured at least seven other persons, reports said on Friday morning.

L'Oeil du Sahel, one of the most authoritative newspapers in the ravaged Lake Chad Basin, said the child and the seven persons were hit by a Boko Haram suicide bomber in Limani area in Cameroon's far north.

That attack, on Thursday night, came only a day after one man was killed and nine others injured on Wednesday night following an attack by Boko Haram terrorists in Cameroon.

The bloody attack took place at Sandawadjiri, a locality also in Cameroon's far north, reported Cameroonian newspaper, L'Oeil due Sahel.

The man killed was a member of the vigilance taskforce, which is often made up of civilians.

That gunfight occurred the same day a suicide bomber blew himself up in Amchide, a locality in Cameroon's far north along the border with Nigeria.

With multiple attacks in Cameroon on several fronts, it is becoming increasingly clear that the war against Boko Haram is far from being won.

The terrorists, who pledged allegiance to ISIS in 2015,  have killed thousands of people in Cameroon since 2014, displaced hundreds of thousands and kidnapped thousands more in more than 500 suicide and gun attacks.

But, the government of Cameroon does not seem to be paying too much attention. President Paul Biya for instance, has continued to spend long vacations in Europe and has never set foot in the ravaged far north, even as his countrymen wallow in misery and live in fear.

In Neighbouring Nigeria, many attacks are being recorded virtually every then and now. More than 25, 000 people have been murdered there by Boko Haram since 2009 and over two million people who fled their homes to avoid being killed have remained displaced.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been battling for his life at a London hospital since May 7, had claimed many times that Boko Haram had been defeated, but with an increase in attacks and deaths, many seem to have concluded that the President has been economical with the truth.

The latest attacks are another indication that Abubakar Shekau's men are determined to keep spreading violence as they seek to create their caliphate where only strict Islam would be practiced.
